elluminates this week

Hello group – long time no hear.

Hoping that your research methods coursework has not flown completely out of the task list!!

I am back in Elluminate for two tutorial style sessions next week. So please have ready questions and foci about your literature review so far. I will have general responses to questions such as:

Have I a clear statement about my topic – title?
What ways do I own this topic – what is my position?
Have I established an argument – is my structure clear?
Have I got enough quality sources – is there evidence of critical and relevant reading?
Do my ideas have a logical flow?
Is my conclusion as a result of accumulating/ comparing and critiquing these ideas?
Have I checked grammar, punctuation, spelling, paragraphs, etc.
Am I referencing correctly both in the body of the lit. review and in the reference list

These questions also form a basis for how you will be assessed!

Please note the links for the Elluminates are on your emails as for some reason the blogger does not seem to want to hyperlink today.:

The first session Elluminate is Monday August 31st - 3.15 - 5.15. This replaces the Wednesday 1-3 session.

and

Thursday' Research Methods Elluminate for September 3rd – 1 – 3pm.

You can attend just one session- but please will you indicate which one and have your questions ready on the day. I will record both session for your review anyway. Please listen to these sessions first if you are intending a face to face with me.

Look forward to “seeing” you all.

Kind regards
Felicity Molloy

Mondays 22nd June elluminate 3 - 5pm - TO DO list

Hi research methods group

Mondays Elluminate (Research methods) is a tutorial style session for the Literature review assessment - due date 20 September. It is a big task (60% weighting) and I want you to get underway early. You will find there is a lot of reading to accomplish - so important to locate your themes in good time so that you wont get overwhelmed after the break. Glance back at your time managmeent ideas and maybe haul those useful study tactics and strageies into place - reading about 30mins 4x a week should get you through!

I have completed the marking first phase of your collaborative task (I would like to complete a comments sheet before processing the marks) and have pulled up some potentially interesting topics for your individual literature reviews but would also like to take you through the following process using the assessment task list as a reference:

1. Selecting a title - brainstorming relevance
2. Writing exercise - selecting themes/ key words and categories
3. Development of an introductory paragraph
4. Troubleshooting the project - this section is about selecting a relevant theoretical framework to guide your query. You should have some ideas about this from your coll. task - not just quantitative or qualitative methods selection but what kind of scope/ audience/ research supports how you go about searchng the literature.

Link is - http://elluminate.tekotago.ac.nz:80/join_meeting.html?meetingId=1245384227090

So before Monday 3pm - please set up a google doc and share with me - email David if you need help with this. Label this google doc.
RMAT3 Lit review - and your name.

David will be taking the Elluminate session on Thursday 25th (1 -3pm)- he will be discussing the Evidence Based practice approach - you might find this a really appropriate method - so keep an open mind in the meantime.

See (hear) you there

research methods collaborative task assessment process

Hi groups - I am still marking the RM assess Task 2 - collaborative task group works - they are intensive reading and just to let you know that because it is taking this long - I feel able to give you another couple of days for reflections to turn up - either as a blog or as an email.

As per my previous email dated 29 05 09 about this ...

In the comments and feedback for the Group assessment the first two parts of the assessment schedule are group and the third part individual (reflection).
If you have not already included a personal reflection in the written output, please can you email or blog me a reflection about the process - keep the Collaborative Task Criteria in mind when you do this: Link or link!
If I don't have your reflection - extended date is June 10th - I will aggregate the marks from the first two group criteria and average a third mark less 30% as a final total for the individual whose reflection has not been sent. Please use the normal Extension criteria and process if you are not able to complete this by then.
Your reflection will be marked using the third reflective blogging rubric - attached and needs to demonstrate your:
  • contribution to the group
  • contribution to the references
  • your interpretations of the topic
  • your engagement with the group
  • your involvement with the workload
Kind regards
